Deborah Lippmann Holiday & Anniversary Collection

If you follow my blog you know how much I love Deborah Lippmann nail polish.  I'm excited to tell you about the latest limited edition sets and how amazing the colours are! The Fantastical Holiday 14' collection has the most unique blends of shimmer and glitter.  The whimsical "mood stone" effect of the Dream Weaver colour has to be my favourite.

To celebrate 15 years of great colour, Deborah also released a few limited edition Anniversary sets.  Music has always been an inspiration for her creativity so each shade is named after a song and tells a story.  I love that the sets include great classic shades as well as fun glittery ones for that accent nail!

From Top to bottom:

Monica Rich Kosann Jewelry

Last week I had the pleasure of meeting New York jewelry designer, Monica Rich Kosann, at a private dinner at Colette Grand Cafe in Toronto.  Monica, who is also a great photographer, used to collect vintage lockets, cigarette cases, and powder compacts to compliment her photography.  Many of her clients began to ask about the unique pieces so she decided to start developing her own collection of jewelry and home accessories. Her beautiful collection is sold online and in boutiques in the US, Canada, Hong Kong, Japan and Russia.

I love that Monica designs timeless pieces with heritage in mind and asks whether each piece would be passed on from mother to daughter. Each of her pieces tells a truly unique story. The miniature pocket watch key necklace Monica kindly gifted me is inspired by the keys used for winding pocket watches at the turn of the century. Designed with stones like rose quartz, blue topaz and rock crystals, this necklace is so elegant and great for everyday wear.

Introducing Intimate by Britney Spears

I was recently introduced to Britney Spears' new Intimate line. This line was designed by the pop icon in partnership with CHANGE Lingerie and includes bustiers, kimonos, and night gowns as well as basics, sweats and jersey sleepwear – something for everyone. I received pieces from the Angelica collection (pictured above) and the quality is amazing. This collection has a delicate combination of lace, silk and pearl embellishment in the softest of colours: mint, rose, and grey.

Simple Apple Pie

6 granny smith apples
1/2 cups of sugar
1/2 cup of unsalted butter
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon of salt
1/4 cup water

Step 1: Cut 6 granny smith apples into thin slices

Step 2: Heat oven to 425°F. Place pie crust in ungreased 9-inch pie plate. Press down firmly and fill with apple slices.

Step 3: Melt butter in saucepan.  Add sugar, salt, water, and flour to form a paste.  Reduce temperature and allow it to simmer.

Step 4: Pour sugar and butter liquid over apples.

Step 5: cut crust in 3/4 inch lengths and weave the lattice-top (alternatively, place the top crust and mark an X)

Step 6: Bake 40 to 45 minutes or until crust is golden brown. You can also cover edge of crust with strips of foil after first 15 minutes of baking to prevent excessive browning.

Cool for 2 hours before serving and enjoy with ice-cream!

Pearls & Tweed

Pink Tartan top, J.Crew skirt, Christian Louboutin shoes, Chanel bag

Pearls and tweed are musts in my wardrobe and I simply can't get enough of the feminine looks created by these classic staples. While I love to accessorize, sometimes I just don't have the time to do so before running out the door. That's what makes this Pink Tartan top every busy girl's dream - the pretty pearl and mesh embellished neckline acts as necklace! The technical jersey fabric and boxy cut makes the top easy and comfortable to wear. I paired it here with a classic pink tweed skirt from J.Crew, simple pumps and a small purse with a pop of colour. I've loved embracing the need to look polished in Business School, which means this West Coast girl won't be wearing yoga pants to class anytime soon!

Christian Louboutin Nail Polish

Nudes Collection: "Madame Est Nue" & "Tutulle"

"Madame Est Nue"

Whether you're already a Louboutin shoe-lover, the Christian Louboutin nail polish collection is one to be admired. Inspired by the Ballerina Ultima, the tallest heel ever created by Louboutin, the 30 colors in three different categories Pops, Nudes and Noirs come in beautifully crafted bottles. What I love most is that the dramatic 8-inch stiletto cap makes nail painting an artistic experience!

It's tempting to get more than a few of these gorgeous colours, especially the classic Louboutin Red, but I had to keep in mind that these have been deemed the most expensive nail polish ever created. I was hesitant to take the plunge but recently picked up two nude colours (Tutulle and Madame Est Nue) - one as a gift to a friend and one for myself.

Product Review: I found the formula to be comparable to the high quality of the Deborah Lippman and Marc Jacobs line - smooth, fast drying, and no air bubbles provided you don't put on too thick of a coat. I also love the high shine finish, which means no top coat necessary. Is it worth the price tag? I would say it depends on how you look at it. As a collector's item, it's a beautiful piece of "art" to be displayed and treasured. As a nail polish, you can get similar colours and quality at less than half the price if you're just looking for a new colour for your weekend manicure.

Available at Holt Renfrew ($58) in Canada, Sephora and Nordstrom ($50) in the US.

5 years of Blogging

Red Nail Polish: Marc Jacobs

Beauty Favourites: Deborah Lippmann, Chanel, YSL, LACC Beauty

Lavender Top: Three of Something

I'll be the first to admit that I had no idea what I was doing when I first started blogging in 2009, and I never thought I would still be writing 5 years later. Having always joked about having a "closet full of nothing", I decided to use it as the name of the blog and start sharing my passion for all things fashion in this new medium. I can't emphasize enough how great a creative outlet it is and I've really enjoyed this unique opportunity to meet and work with amazing people behind great brands in the fashion and beauty industry. With the blog now covering not only fashion and personal style, but also beauty, lifestyle and travel experiences, I love that I can share more of my passions and introduce some great brands I'm lucky to work with. And who knows, maybe post-MBA I'll be able to combine my passion for business and fashion in my career choice.

I'm incredibly grateful to everyone who has read the blog, followed me on Instragram and supported me throughout the years. It's so rewarding to know that my posts, whether on the blog or on Instagram, can play a small part in brightening up someone's day and inspiring them in some way. As a first year MBA student who is about to be buried under finance, accounting, statistics and strategy course-load this semester, it will be hard to find time to blog frequently. But at the same time, this creative outlet is more valuable than ever to my well-being! On those long school days, I'll remember what I've always believed in: dream big, work hard and soon all the dots will connect.
