Simply Classic

Celine tee, Jacob skirt, Chanel clutch, Sam Edelman shoes, LOVECOCO necklace

As much as I love working and living in the city, it's nice to spend weekends visiting family in the suburbs. Last weekend, we discovered this beautiful spot in New Westminster and had to stop to take photos. I gave colour a break and went with a classic black and white look mixing old and new favourites - the skirt and clutch have been loved since 2008 while the tee, necklace, and shoes are new summer finds. And yes, the sparkly necklace is part of the latest "Audrey Collection" from my jewelry line LOVECOCO and can be purchased online!

Chapters Indigo 2013 Holiday Preview

Christmas in August!  Last week, I had the pleasure of attending the Indigo Holiday Magic Preview event at the Owner's Suite in the Fairmont Pacific Rim. It was a sneak peek of all the holiday goodies coming to Chapters Indigo in the most spectacular setting. From the living room to the upper level bedroom and courtyard, the luxurious suite was decorated entirely for the holidays. I especially loved the the girly cushions and fun accessories in the bathroom. It appears that Chapters is no longer just a place for books; it has become the ultimate destination for gifts home decor. I'm already looking forward to picking up a few Holiday items, arriving in store in mid-October!

Easy One Pan Pasta

The boy and I have been experimenting with different recipes lately and we're particularly drawn to easy ones that fit into our busy life. This one pan pasta recipe by Martha Stewart looked easy enough and turned out to be amazing so I thought I would share it with you all. It's a simple and flavorful dish - there is very little prep work and barely anything to clean up! I hope you'll enjoy it as much as I did.

- 12 ounces linguine
- 12 ounces cherry or grape tomatoes, halved or quartered if large
- 1 onion, thinly sliced (about 2 cups)
- 4 cloves garlic, thinly sliced
- 1/2 teaspoon red-pepper flakes
- 2 sprigs basil, plus torn leaves for garnish
- 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil, plus more for serving
- Coarse salt and freshly ground pepper
- 4 1/2 cups water
- Freshly grated Parmesan cheese, for serving

1. Combine pasta, tomatoes, onion, garlic, red-pepper flakes, basil, oil, 2 teaspoons salt, 1/4 teaspoon pepper, and water in a large straight-sided skillet. Bring to a boil over high heat. Boil mixture, stirring and turning pasta frequently with tongs, until pasta is al dente and water has nearly evaporated, about 9 minutes.
2. Season to taste with salt and pepper, divide among 4 bowls, and garnish with basil. Serve with oil and Parmesan

Summer in the City

J.Crew tee, Seven jean shorts, Sole Society sandals

Skirts are fun and dresses are great but some days you just want to throw on t-shirt and jeans. I've had many of these days this summer but my comfy finds from J.Crew and new sandals courtesy of Sole Society make these otherwise simple looks a little more stylish. This simple linen tee with gold pineapple print is my favourite go-to piece and these flattering sandals go with just about anything. An outfit like this was perfect for a day of running errands in the city, including picking up gorgeous sunflowers for the apartment!

Last week I had the pleasure of checking out the KNOWSHOW at the Vancouver Convention Centre. It was a beach party theme at the Lifestyle Tradeshow and the 60's "Endless Summer" swimwear presentation was actually on a man-made indoor beach! The fun fashion show featured vintage inspired swimsuits from Vitamin A and Roxy. All of the pieces on the gorgeous models were covetable but my favorite look was the classic black and white two-piece suit with high waisted bottoms. Adored with layers and layers of pearls, this look is perfect!

The KNOWSHOW is held bi-annually in Vancouver and the tradeshow caters to Canada’s top lifestyle, fashion and action sports retailers and brands. It's the place for brands to premier their new products and I can't wait to see what's new for next year!
